In May 2018, I worked with UNSOM, AMISOM and CCCPA to organise the 2018 International Youth Conference on Preventing and Countering of Violent Extremism and Terrorism in Cairo, Egypt (22-24 May 2018).
The Conference brought together young people, PCVE practitioners and experts, African government officials and academics to discuss latest trends in regards to youth radicalisation in the region, and good practices for programming and policies that are positively contributing to prevention efforts in the region. The event was also an opportunity to identify policy and programming gaps, and design a set of concrete recommendations for the partners in regards to future programming.
