Somali Youth Voices

On November 4-5, 2016, I organized for UNSOM a two-day event bringing together 50 young Somalis from Mogadishu and different regions of Somalia to discuss the engagement of youth in building a peaceful and democratic country.

The event was an opportunity to identify young people’s priorities for the Somali government and discuss new opportunities for young people to engage meaningfully in the peaceful development of Somalia.

The event dynamic was quite unique, creating an informal dynamic which enabled young participants to really engage in in-depth discussions with the UN senior leadership in the country, both the Special Representative of the Secretary General for Somalia and the UN Resident Coordinator attended the event. Young participants also had the opportunity to express their views creatively panting a panel with their messages of peace.

If you wanna read more about the event, check the article about it at UNSOM page.
