The Youth Forum in the Arab Region was held in Tunis, Tunisia from 20 to 22 August 2019 and gathered more than 200 young women and men from 20 countries in the Middle East and North Africa.
The Forum, organised by UNFPA Arab States Regional Office (ASRO) and the Government of Tunisia in collaboration with ESCWA, UNDP, UNESCO, and other partners was an opportunity to discuss youth policies, youth-friendly services and ways to support young people to accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The theme of the forum was “Knowledge at the Service of Youth in the Arab States” and it led to the development of four regional projects enhance youth’s access to knowledge and their ability to use this knowledge to achieve sustainable development and realize the promise of the ICPD programme of action for all.
I worked with the UNFPA Somalia team to select and prepare the young people who were part of the Somali delegation to the event, and was in charge of mentoring them in the preparation of their workshops and in the development of the follow up projects.
